Indirect injection prevails with around 236 versions combined against 55 direct-injection engines; among the emission stages Tier 4 (Final or Phase-in) leads with 183 ahead of Interim Tier 4 with 108 versions.

Engines of this class chiefly drive mini excavators, compact loaders and small farm implements; as a supplier, IHI Agri-Tech equips both its own machines and outside manufacturers with no small-diesel production of their own in the lowest power segment.

On a used purchase, on the predominantly indirect-injection engines the glow-plug system and cold-start behaviour count, the condition of injection pump and nozzles, the tightness of crankshaft seals and valve-cover gasket, and on the few turbocharged versions the turbocharger itself; since the model years lie mostly before 2020, parts availability is worth checking in advance.
