Hyundai Construction Equipment has built forklifts since the 1990s at its Ulsan plant as a complement to its construction equipment programme; in Europe the trucks are sold through the construction equipment dealer network. The type code follows a fixed pattern: the number gives the capacity in hundreds of kilograms (15 = 1.5 t, 25 = 2.5 t, 160 = 16 t), the letter the drive – D for diesel, L for LPG, B for battery, i.e. electric – appended letters such as C for the compact version, T for three-wheel electric trucks, R for reach trucks, and the suffix -5, -7 or III denotes the generation. The older notation puts the letter H first: HDF for Hyundai Diesel Forklift, HLF for LPG, HBF for electric, HBR for reach truck.

On used trucks, as with all forklifts, operating hours, play in the mast, condition of forks and chains (chains are wear parts with a replacement limit), battery condition on electrics and, on combustion trucks, the availability of engine parts from the respective engine maker are what count.
