Henra car trailers up to 3.5 t (class O2) – from an 1832 blacksmith's shop to a pure trailer maker since 1983: 536 versions, kerb weight 190 to 2,830 kg

Henra of Overloon in North Brabant traces back to the blacksmith firm Henckels & Rademaker, founded in 1832 and rebuilt after the Second World War; the company built its first trailer in 1956, brothers Piet and Jan Henckels took over in 1965, and since 1983 Henra has produced trailers exclusively. This class O2 collective page gathers all Henra models with a gross weight of 0.75 to 3.5 tonnes, from plain AT and BR types to the BA and DL box-trailer ranges; the multi-digit number strings in the names encode dimensions and weight class by manufacturer logic, though the exact key cannot be reliably reconstructed from the register alone.

The register lists 536 versions with kerb weights from 190 to 2,830 kg, gross weights from 770 to 3,500 kg and widths from 1,550 to 2,550 mm; lengths are recorded for only 177 models and range from 3,410 to 9,090 mm.

Henra has grown from an agricultural-machinery workshop into a pure trailer maker with around 20,000 square metres of site, and by its own account exports around three-quarters of production to neighbouring European countries, making it, alongside Hapert and Anssems, one of the better-known names in Dutch trailer building.

When buying used, check the condition and smooth action of the coupling head, whether the overrun brake works, the state of the axles and rubber-torsion suspension, frame corrosion especially at the drawbar and axle mounts, the lighting system, the floor and tarpaulin or bodywork, and tyre age; spares are stocked by Dutch trailer specialists.

What to check before buying

  • Search the frame and welds at the axle mounts — that is where cracks start.
  • Check the brakes and the last inspection in the papers.
  • Work the gross weight against the towing vehicle before buying.
  • Compare the chassis number with the papers.
  • Look at the floor, cover or body from the inside — rust does not show from outside.
