Giad – Tractor Assembly from Sudan Since 2005
Giad Auto was founded in March 1997 as a joint venture between SMT Engineering Co. and Sudan's state military industry corporation, and serves as a holding company for several subsidiaries in an industrial city about 80 kilometres south of Khartoum. In 2005, a dedicated division, Giad Tractors, was added to manufacture, assemble, modernise and develop agricultural machinery and equipment, including tractors, ploughs and tillage equipment. Giad assembles Massey Ferguson-based tractors from CKD kits supplied by the Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company as well as Massey Ferguson itself. The Giad group's partners also include MAN, Renault, Hyundai and BYD. Listed in the register: model 285.
