This page gathers the Ferguson tractors the register could not assign to a named range – essentially the TE-20 and its close relatives, the most numerously built British tractor of the post-war period. Harry Ferguson, inventor of the three-point hydraulic linkage with draft control, began production in 1946 at the Banner Lane plant in Coventry; in 1953 his company merged with Massey-Harris to form Massey Ferguson, which is why some of the models listed here already carry the short-lived transitional badge FE-35. The type logic: TE stands for "Tractor England", the following letters give the fuel type – TED for paraffin/TVO, TEF for diesel, TEA for petrol – D at the end often marks the diesel version. The sister version built in Detroit carried the designation TO-20 and was supplied with a Continental engine instead of the British Standard unit. The engines of the British versions come from the Standard Motor Company of Coventry, which developed the overhead-valve four-cylinder specifically for Ferguson.

The TE-20 is regarded as one of the most influential tractors in history: Ferguson's patented three-point hydraulic linkage with draft control became a worldwide industry standard and is still found on practically every modern farm tractor; in Britain the "Grey Fergie" remains a fixture of vintage-vehicle rallies and the collector scene to this day.
On used tractors, the condition of the cylinder head and pistons counts (many engines ran for decades and were rebuilt several times), the tightness of the hydraulic draft control, the condition of the steering and front axle, rust on sheet metal, and – on paraffin versions – the state of the carburettor and warm-up switch; thanks to the large collector base in Britain, parts are widely available.
