FBW trucks served above all in Switzerland with haulage firms and municipalities; after production ended in 1985, some vehicles survived as museum and collector pieces or in municipal fleets into the 1990s. NAW was formed in 1982 from the merger of the truck divisions of FBW, Saurer and Berna, and was later taken over by Mercedes-Benz. Wetzikon as the place of production remains part of the history of the Swiss truck industry to this day.
On these historic chassis, the condition of the frame and cab, the condition of engine and gearbox given the vehicles' age, corrosion on load-bearing parts and the availability of spare parts count, which for a brand discontinued in 1985 now runs practically only through collector circles and remaining stock.
