Esve's range includes low-loaders ("diepladers") from one to four axles as well as semi-low-loader trailers, plus special constructions for cranes, hook-lift containers or tank bodies. For heavy, oversized loads the builder also offers steered axles controlled hydraulically via wireless remote, making it easier to manoeuvre onto tight construction sites and works yards.

For the driver, an O4 trailer generally means a category C+E licence is needed once the towing vehicle itself exceeds 3,500 kg gross mass and the trailer weighs more than 750 kg — the O4 class alone says nothing about a specific combination, the towing vehicle always decides.

Technically, an electronic braking system (EBS) is standard on vehicles of this size, powered through the standardised seven-pin connector to ISO 7638. If that power supply is missing or the connection is broken, the trailer automatically brakes at full pressure regardless of load or parameter settings — a point well worth checking before the first drive with a used heavy trailer, along with axle loads, brake-lining condition and the frame for warping or cracked welds.

In short: O4 means a gross mass above 10 tonnes and usually a category C+E licence on the towing side.
