DEUTZ AG, headquartered in Cologne and founded in 1864 as an engine works, is regarded as the world's oldest engine manufacturer and was a pioneer of the air-cooled diesel engine; the classic D914 range carries on this air-cooled design to this day. Deutz engines of this range drive construction machinery, forklifts, farm machinery and stationary generator sets; as one of the last large independent European engine makers, Deutz supplies numerous construction- and farm-machinery makers without their own engine production, competing with Kohler, Yanmar and Perkins.
