Daewoo Solar hydraulic excavators 330LC-V to S300LCV – from the Daewoo group to Doosan Infracore: S range as Solar's successor, Doosan's own DE and DB engines, 88 to 183 kW, 17.2 to 33.2 t operating weight
Daewoo Heavy Industries of South Korea built its hydraulic excavators under the Solar name before the group sold its construction-equipment division to the Doosan group in 2005, which formed Doosan Infracore out of it. The type logic shows the transition: the 330 LC-V Solar still carries the old Solar name, LC standing for long crawler for better stability, while the S175LCV, S225LCV and S300LCV carry the newer, plainer S nomenclature of the Doosan era, in which the number gives roughly the weight class in tenths of a tonne and V the generation; the S175LCV Narrow Track is the narrow-gauge version for trenches and confined sites. The excavators are driven by Doosan's own industrial engines of the DE and DB ranges.

The register lists 5 versions with 88.1 to 183.1 kW from six-cylinders of 5,786 to 11,061 cm³ displacement, torque from 451.1 to 1,029.1 Nm at 1,900 to 1,950 rpm and operating weights from 17,200 to 33,158 kg.
The Solar and early S excavators gave Doosan, alongside Hyundai and Volvo, a firm place among the big Asian excavator makers on the European used market, chiefly in earthmoving.
On used machines, operating hours, the condition of undercarriage and track tension, leak-free cylinders and swivel joint, the condition of boom and stick bearings and parts supply count, good by now for the Doosan engines, patchier for the older pure Daewoo designations.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
