Citroën Jumpy – from the Sevelnord compact van to a modern light commercial: three generations since 1994, built alongside the Peugeot Expert and Fiat Scudo, 1.6 to 2.0-litre HDi diesels, 51 to 130 kW

The Citroën Jumpy emerged in 1994 from the Sevel Nord cooperation between PSA (Citroën, Peugeot) and Fiat and is still built at the Valenciennes-Hordain plant in northern France, identical in construction to the Peugeot Expert and – until the alliance ended – the Fiat Scudo. The model plates in the register show the development across three generations: L1/L2 for short and long wheelbase, H1/H2 for roof height, DC for the double cab, the HDi and BlueHDi codes for the diesel injection along with power in kW or PS.

The register lists 97 versions here with engines from 51 to 130 kW from 1,560 to 1,997 cm³ displacement, kerb weights from 1,310 to 2,470 kg and gross weights from 1,825 to 3,100 kg; lengths are recorded for only part of the models.

Alongside the VW Transporter and Renault Trafic, the Jumpy is one of the established compact vans in the one-tonne segment and is sold both as a panel van for trades and deliveries and – under the SpaceTourer name – as a passenger vehicle.

On HDi engines, what counts is the turbocharger, dual-mass flywheel and injectors; on panel vans, rust on the sliding door tracks and load floor, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, and – on common-rail engines with a particulate filter – its condition; spare parts are widely available through the PSA network and the independent parts trade.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
