In the 1950s, Borgward trucks held the medium-duty commercial-vehicle segment in West Germany alongside makers such as Mercedes-Benz, MAN and Hanomag, and were also exported to Scandinavian countries including Finland, where they were registered under the local term kuorma-auto, meaning truck. Production ended abruptly with the 1961 bankruptcy.
