This page gathers the Valmet tractors the register could not assign to a named range – from the first tractor designed in Finland to the Mezzo models of the 1980s and 1990s. Valmet emerged from the state-owned Finnish engineering combine Valtion Metallitehtaat and built its own tractors from 1951, starting with the Valmet 15 and the Valmet 20 presented in 1956. The type logic changed over the decades: the three-digit types of the 1960s and 1970s such as 305, 359, 455, 505, 605 and 700 order the power class in ascending order, the suffix -4 and -4X4 marks four-wheel-drive models, the number after the slash an internal equipment or transmission code; the 6000 range (Mezzo) of the 1980s and 1990s from 6100 to 6850 replaced the older ranges. In 1997 the brand passed to Valtra after the sale to the engine maker Sisu.

Valmet was one of the leading brands in Finland and Scandinavia for decades and shaped the Nordic farm-machinery market with cold-resistant engineering – sturdy cab heating, cold-start-capable diesel engines, sealed drivetrains; part of the output was exported to the former Soviet Union and to Eastern Europe, where the simple technology and parts supply were valued.
On used tractors, rust on panels and cab, clutch and synchro gearbox, hydraulic pump and PTO count on the older ranges, and electronics, cab mounting and engine condition on the Mezzo models of the 6000 range; parts for most model years now run through the Valtra network, which has continued the brand since the 1997 renaming.
