Ducato, Boxer and Jumper are all built at the Sevel plant in Val di Sangro, near Atessa in Italy. Sevel stands for Società Europea Veicoli Leggeri, a joint venture between Fiat, now part of Stellantis, and the former PSA group (Peugeot/Citroën) dating back to 1978; the Atessa plant itself opened in 1981. Further badges have joined the same platform over the years, including the Ram ProMaster for North America, the Opel/Vauxhall Movano since 2022, and the Toyota Proace Max since 2023.

Within the Ducato range, a code made up of L and H letters distinguishes the body variants: L denotes the wheelbase or length class, from L1, shortest, to L4, extra-long, and H the roof height class, from H1, low, to H3, high. As a panel van, the Ducato is offered from the factory with three wheelbases — 3,000, 3,450 and 4,050 millimetres — combined with different roof heights, producing designations such as L1H1, L2H2 or L4H3.
