Fendt was founded in 1930 by Hermann Fendt in Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu and has belonged to AGCO since 1997. In 1995 Fendt introduced the 926 Vario, the first series-production tractor with a stepless transmission, and the Vario gearbox has defined every range of the marque ever since. The three-digit type numbers rank size upwards from 200 to 900, and the V suffix (209V, 210V, 211V) marks the narrow-track vineyard versions for working between tight rows.
