Dethleffs of Isny im Allgäu is regarded as the inventor of the German series-built caravan: in 1931 founder Arist Dethleffs built the first mass-produced caravan, long before camping became a mass pursuit. The family company shaped the German caravanning industry for decades and has belonged to the Erwin Hymer Group since the late 1990s, which has itself been part of the American Thor Industries group since 2018/2019. The model programme spans post-war classics to modern ranges and carries names such as Beduin, Nomad, Aero Style, Camper and Exclusiv, as well as the Arist range named after the founder. The trailers gathered here fall into EU vehicle class O2, covering trailers from 0.75 to 3.5 tonnes gross weight – at Dethleffs, practically all of them caravans towed behind a car.
