MKP was a Danish caravan manufacturer whose Grandesse range was built from 1963 to 1972 as the “A model” and from 1973 to 1981 as the revised “B model” under the name Grandesse Royal; the programme also included the Royal and Super Royal ranges and the more compact Midi. With widths around two metres and lengths up to nearly seven metres, the MKP caravans fell within the classic European caravan dimensions of their era, with the LUX and Royal suffixes each marking higher trim levels within the Grandesse and Midi ranges. As a Danish marque from the 1960s to 1980s, MKP caravans are sought today mainly in the Northern European collector and restoration market.
On a used caravan of such varied, sometimes decades-old age, check above all for damp damage in the walls, floor and roof, the condition of windows and seals, the function of the overrun brake, and the condition of the drawbar and jockey wheel; spare parts for the long-discontinued MKP marque are mostly sourced through specialist clubs and collectors in Denmark and the Netherlands.
