Kip Caravans was founded in 1934 by Jan Kip in Hoogeveen as a coachbuilding business, built his first camping vehicle for his own use in 1947, and produced the first series-built caravans from 1949; to this day Kip remains the only surviving caravan manufacturer in the Netherlands and builds entirely at its home plant in Hoogeveen. The Cavalier was one of the volume ranges of the brand from the period when Kip reached an annual output of 10,000 units in 1971, before the company shifted toward higher-grade fittings from 1982 onward.
