Erwin Hymer Group UK Ltd. is the umbrella for the British touring-caravan brands Elddis, Buccaneer and Xplore, registered as class O2 trailers. Elddis was founded in the 1950s by Siddle and Mary Cook and began series production by 1965; in 1973 the brand was acquired by ABI, formed from the merger of Ace Caravans and Belmont Caravans, and in 1998 Elddis set up the Explorer Group and acquired the Buccaneer brand. In February 2017 the Erwin Hymer Group bought the Explorer Group, based in Consett, England, along with the Elddis, Buccaneer, Compass and Xplore brands; the Erwin Hymer Group itself belongs to the US company Thor Industries.
