Anssems car trailers up to 3.5 t (class O2) – from a made-to-order shop founded 1977 to the GT-Line for private buyers since 2003: 456 versions, kerb weight 190 to 3,000 kg

Anssems was founded in 1977 by J. J. M. Anssems in the Brabant village of Hulten and initially built trailers strictly to order; in 1992 the growing firm moved to nearby Rijen, where production continues today. With the GT-Line introduced in 2003, Anssems opened up to the consumer market, having previously built mainly commercial one-off trailers; production now also takes place in Germany and France. This class O2 collective page gathers all Anssems trailers with a gross weight of 0.75 to 3.5 tonnes, from open and closed load trailers to horse and car transporters.

The register lists 456 versions, of which 302 are currently listed as active, with kerb weights from 190 to 3,000 kg, gross weights from 850 to 3,500 kg and widths from 1,350 to 2,550 mm; lengths are recorded for 128 models and range from 3,250 to 6,550 mm.

From a made-to-order trailer shop to a broadly based European manufacturer: Anssems today covers almost the whole car-trailer spectrum, from simple load trailers to horse and car transporters, competing directly with Hapert and Henra from the same region.

When buying used, check the coupling head and overrun brake, the state of the axles and, where fitted, rubber-torsion suspension, frame corrosion at axle mounts and drawbar, the lighting system, the floor and tarpaulin or bodywork, and tyre age; on the 154 older models no longer listed as current, parts supply can be limited.

What to check before buying

  • Search the frame and welds at the axle mounts — that is where cracks start.
  • Check the brakes and the last inspection in the papers.
  • Work the gross weight against the towing vehicle before buying.
  • Compare the chassis number with the papers.
  • Look at the floor, cover or body from the inside — rust does not show from outside.
