Adria was founded in 1965 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, within the then state-owned enterprise Industrija motornih vozil (IMV), which initially built components and vehicles for manufacturers such as Renault; an internal project produced the Adria 375, the first Slovenian caravan, successfully exported to Sweden. Motorhome production began in addition in 1982, and after the breakup of Yugoslavia and Slovenian independence in 1991, the independent company Adria Mobil d.o.o. was founded in 1996; since 2017 the company has belonged to the French Trigano group, while Novo Mesto remains its main site.
