The CF was Bedford's large van, the commercial-vehicle brand of Vauxhall and thus General Motors in Britain, built from 1969 into the 1980s at the Luton plant. It came as a panel van, combi and chassis for bodies such as motorhomes and ambulances, D in the type designations denotes the diesel engines, DELUXE an upmarket trim line. After General Motors discontinued the Bedford brand in the late 1980s, CF production continued in small numbers under the name AWD as the CF350.

The CF was, alongside the Ford Transit, Britain's most widely used large van for trade and commerce and a base for motorhomes and ambulances; on the continent it remained a niche product against Ford, Mercedes-Benz and VW.
On used examples, rust on the floor pan, wheel arches and door bottoms, clutch and gearbox condition, the injection pump on the diesel engines, and on motorhome and ambulance conversions damp and the condition of the added body parts all count; parts are now only available through Bedford and Vauxhall specialists.
