ABB – other models: the collective page of MEPS-registered IEC low-voltage motors outside the named ranges, chiefly M3, manufactured in Finland and Sweden, frame sizes 80 to 355, 0.75 to 185 kW
This page gathers the ABB three-phase motors the Australian energy-efficiency register could not assign to a named range. ABB Motion traditionally builds its IEC low-voltage motors in Finland (Vaasa, formerly Strömberg) and Sweden (Västerås), the roots of the Swedish-Swiss ASEA-BBC merger of 1988; the motor-family field that dominates the register names the M3 range in 167 of 195 entries, ABB's current generation of low-voltage motors following the M3xx frame-length-pole scheme also described by the named M3BP range pages in the register.

The register lists here 614 versions with 0.75 to 185 kW, two- to eight-pole, full-load efficiencies from 69.6 to 96.8% and at 75% load from 63.6 to 97%. Frame sizes run from 80 to 355, protection is mostly IP55, in many cases with the added approval for IP56, IP65 and IP66; the mounting form is limited to B3/B5/B35 for 304 motors, and extended with B8 and the vertical forms V1 to V6 for a further 159. Finland (193) and Sweden (151) dominate the manufacturing countries, alongside combinations with India, Poland and China. Testing mostly followed AS/NZS 1359.5 (327) and the 2012 and 2019 GEMS determinations; of 614 motors, 127 reach a documented High Efficiency Level (65 the 2005 level, 49 the 2018 level, 13 the 2001 level), the majority remain unclassified.
ABB states it is the world's largest supplier of industrial motors; the versions gathered here supplement named ranges such as M3BP and cover the broad field of special versions, older frame sizes and market-specific variants for pumps, fans, compressors and conveying plant.
When buying used, bearing condition and a checked insulation resistance of the winding, the condition of shaft, key and fan cover, a legible nameplate with frame size, mounting form and efficiency class matter, and, on the numerous V1 to V6 vertical versions, correct installation matching the intended mounting form; inverter suitability is usually given on the newer M3 models, on older frame sizes it should be checked case by case. Spares run through the ABB service network.

Frequently asked questions
How much power does the ABB M3JP315SMB2 have?
The ABB M3JP315SMB2 delivers 132 kW.
What to check before buying
- Match the data plate against the order: frame size, mounting and rating have to agree.
- Check the ingress rating against the installation site — outdoors or in dust the demands differ.
- Hold the mounting form and dimensions against the existing seat before ordering.
- The pole count sets the speed — when replacing an older unit, compare this first.
- For used units, ask about winding condition and bearing play.
- Ask about parts availability for this series — the running costs hang on it.
