The type code reads like the successor's – M for motor, 2 for the generation, B for cast iron, A for the general execution – followed by IEC frame size, frame length and number of poles. Anyone who finds 'M2BA 132SMB 4' next to 'M3BP 132SMB 4' in the register is looking at two generations of the same mechanical frame size.
